Honda has been touting "aluminum-engine" antifreeze for years, that has no silicates in it. Most antifreezes do contain silicate grinding compounds to scour scale from iron blocks and promote better heat transfer. Honda and a couple of other sources say that while the silicates do clean up the water passages, they also attack waterpump seals and wear away certain areas of aluminum blocks & heads. I have no direct experiences with non-silicate antifreezes, having run std stuff in my SVO heads and aluminum waterpump for over 13 years with no problems. Use a search engine like [www.google.com] and enter 'antifreeze' for some interesting info on the subject.
