Attached is a note from John Montgomery about the 2002 Atlanta Italian Car Day scheduled for October 5th. This is one of the most outstanding and prestigious one day Italian car events in the Southeast and I encourage all of the Southeast Pantera owners to get their cars ready for the big event. If you want to see some outstanding and rare Italian iron this is the event! We had 9 Panteras in attendance last year for our ground pounding entrance and Im sure we can do even more cars this year. Lets go Panteras!

Atlantas Sixth Annual Italian Car Day!
Date: Saturday, Oct. 5th, 2002, 10 AM to 3 PM.

Place: Buford Dam Park, just 1 mile east of Buford Dam power generating station off Buford Dam Road. This is a new venue for Italian Car Day, close to West Bank Park (1996 to 2000 site), but on the opposite side of the Dam near the Corps Office entrance.
Registration fee $15/car (includes lunch).
All registration is at the door like last year. Registration INCLUDES dash card, and a free hot lunch/drink and one raffle ticket for door prizes donated by vendors. The registered car is eligible for an Owners Choice Trophy for their registered marque and also Best of Show. (An ALFA won Best of Show last year!)
Italian Motorcycles have their own class again this year. Only registered car owners have voting privileges. Best of Show, selected by peers, is the top honor again this year. Very nice 4 color trophies were awarded last year.
Also, extra lunches are available for small nominal fee for others in your party.
Last year vendors donated over $2000 in door prizes. Extra raffle tickets sold at the event for $1 each.
We expect to exceed all records this year, and therefore have secured a larger venue than previous years. This is the largest park on Lake Lanier available from the Corps of Engineers.
We can handle 200 cars and perhaps we will achieve that milestone this year.
(Look out British Car Day guys, were gaining on you!)
)
Last year was a wonderful show with over 125 registrations! I think everyone is looking forward to displaying their cars/bikes at the 2002 show. Anyone who wishes to help out is very much appreciated.
Please contact me personally if you can help. We will also contact registered attendees from 2000 & 2001 on our database with a postcard mailing this summer. Please remind your fellow Italian Car enthusiasts about the show.
May photos are available from last years show if you cant wait!

Hey Mike,

Your news caught our attention.. We have a bunch of diehards out of the Southeast Panteras up for the drive to Georgia to visit and enjoy the show! With a little more rooting and hollering we might be even able to get a few of our friends from the Northeastern chapters to head down. Send me an email to ufmbagrad@earthlink.net with info if you are able on local hotels, place to meet and eat etc.

Will there also be a rally?

Let me know.. Appreciate it

Dave Clark
Me, too, Mike. I'm hoping to make it, assuming my car is out of its bare metal (what was left of it) resto, which I think it will be. Hoping to have it out of body shop in about 2 more months. I may hook up with John Holmes to come down. Ironically, I bought mine right there at Lake Lanier 4 years ago.

For those of you that want to stay overnight would you want to say near the Donut Derelicts meeting site where most of us will be meeting to form up for the caravan up to the venue at the lake (about a 45 minute drive north) or would you want to stay near the venue? The caravan is half the fun of the event! Its fun to have a bunch of ground pounding Panteras show up at the event at the same time. There is a Holiday Inn near the Donut Derelicts site that would be perfect and it was used by the "Great Race" group as headquarters a few years ago. The hotel is just off the (top end) north I285 loop that encircles Atlanta and is in a good neighborhood.
#1252 will be there! Ginger & I are planning around that weekend now. We won't have far to go from Lyons, Georgia, but I hope to be hooking up with some of "yall" from my Southeast Pantera group down in sunny Florida if I don't trailer it there. The older I get, the more protective I get!

Mike, will the folks at DD care if a few of us bring our trailers and unload there for the day?
The Pantera Place has become the official site for the 2002 Atlanta Italian Car day. Ive added a registration section and will be updating the site with hotel and trailer parking info. Please stop on by and register so that we know that you will be heading to the event.
