Can anyone tell me what would a 90's or 2000 AUSSIE 302 engine be ?? a windsor or 335 series based motor.

My AC friends in the UK are asking ?

I say a destroked 335 series. There was rumor that when AC rpoduced these cars they put clevelands in them in the late 90's.

Figured this would be the place to ask.

Windsor. The production of the Australian 351C ceased at the end of 1982.

The AC MKIV's got 302 Windsors. The earlier models got the 4 barrel Holley
version and the later ones got SEFI 5.0L HO engines.

Perhaps the rumor stems from Jack Roush? Jack's own AC MKIV Cobra was
powered by 335 series engine, specifically a stroked 400 with SVO high port
aluminum Cleveland heads. An old Super Ford article ("The Cobra that Jack
built") gives the details. The article states Jack wanted a torque monster
and a 460 would have been his first choice but it was too heavy as no aluminum
heads for the big block were available at the time. To keep the weight
reasonable, he decided to stroke a 400 and use Motorsport 351C aluminum high
port heads. Using a custom stroker crank and boring the block 0.030" over,
he was able to get 460 cubes out of the 400 block. Adapter plates and a
Motorsport high port intake (looked like an Edelbrock A331), were used along
with a 780 Holley. The cam was surprisingly mild, a hydraulic Comp Cams 280
with 0.530" lift (the article mistakenly states 0.500" lift). Claimed output
was 520 HP.

This is what I found :

302 Cleveland
This engine was built only in Australia, and was intended to give their consumers a five liter alternative to the 351 Cleveland as the Ford "Windsor" series of engines was not commonly available there. Utilizing a locally produced 351 Cleveland block, 302 cubic inches (4.9 L) was attained by reducing the stroke of the 351C from 3.5 to 3 inches (89 to 76 mm). Additionally, the 302C cylinder heads were designed locally, with smaller combustion chamber to compensate for the reduced stroke of the engine. This combination of closed combustion chambered quench heads with smaller 2 barrel style ports made a more powerful setup known in the USA as "Australian heads". These heads interchange directly onto 351C engines, and are highly sought outside of Australia as a low-cost method to increase compression ratio. They are a good street alternative to the over ported 4 barrel heads.

My take on it is AC made a car called a CRS ( carbon road series in 1998 ) some of the ones that stayed in the UK had they 302 C in them. The year I see dosent really make any differnece. They say they used the Aussie 302C until the stock at Ford ran out. Maybe there is still stock since they were not desirable since the WINDSOR replaced them ????

Who knows my American left hand drive has a 302 W ...
