Best place to buy carbon fiber hood?

Depends on why you want such a hood. There are carbon fiber hoods, and then there are carbon-fiber/fiberglas hoods. The latter are cheaper as the carbon fiber is simply an overlay that shows through the resin. Weight savings are minimal over a plain fiberglas hood. You'll have to inquire of the sellers as to what they are actually selling.True carbon fiber hoods are very expensive, extremely light and stiff, and are probably wasted on all but pro racecars whose owners are looking to knock a thousand pounds or so off the portly wt of a street Pantera.

I don't need a real carbon fiber hood. I just need one of the overlay hoods to match my decklid. Who has the best product in terms of fitment and/or price?

How much weight are we saving with these products over stock? I keep seeing a percentage drop, but what are the actual pounds on a hood or decklid?

stock steel decklid 65 lbs
carbon fiber(glass) decklid 25 lbs

stock steel hood 25 lbs
carbon fiber(glass)hood ??? maybe 10 lbs

What are the bennies of becoming a PI member in addition to discounted merchandise?

They publish a very nice quarterly magazine, some of which is color glossy (covers & maybe the feature article) though most of the content is B/W. It has excellent articles on tech, DeTomaso restorations & go-fast projects, DeTomaso & racing history, a few various vendor ads, etc. Nice addition to your coffee table.

DEpends on the mfgr. My late '80s Long & Newman fiberglas hood w/two small vents molded in, was 22 lbs and the fit as-received is marginal. IMHO, not worth the trouble.
