DEFINITELY don't take the dash out! Working anywhere under the dash takes some contorting, but you can reach up behind the speedo and unscrew the cable. It should be only hand tight. The other end on the ZF is easy. My cable went along the bottom of the console, through a hole in the bottom of the firewall. Yours is a newer model, so I'm not sure. I've been told graphite is the lubricant of choice.
