Holy crap! :O
I love old vw's! In college I had a baja beetle and took it off-roading in Utah all the time with my buddies. That thing was tough as nails. In the winter, I'd go up the powerline trails when the snow was so deep that it would push over the hood of the car. Never got stuck. In the summer my room mate also bought one. I have pictures of it somewhere completely airborne on one of the trails behind the dorms. And those were just normal beetles with fiberglass fenders and bigger tires. Nothing like what you're building!
Very cool. I really want to build one as well some day. I need more time in this life... someone hurry up and figure out how to clone people.

Hey Brad your project is really looking nice! You'll have to post some pictures of it in action, once you get it completed. It looks like it is just about ready to go!
Looking good! How do you title the dune buggy any smog check required? Seems like I heard that the custom motorcycle market was going to be having problems trying to meet smog and safety requirements in the near future.
It a 1973 Volkswagen Bug / 73’s are exempt from smog. That’s the reason I started with this old piece of crap pan, its registered for the street.
Old crap VW pan = 1973 VIN. # and title

It was a complete, running, fast, street legal car for $50.00,,,, See, just needs a little push to get her going.

Any updates? It's been a month!!!
Yes, I have been so busy lately and haven’t had time to take any new pic’s, the buggy is coming along nicely, down to the small details and final “bling-bling” type stuff, working on getting the dash the way I want it, should be completed and on the road in about a week. I will post some pic’s this weekend.
For the last week I have been helping out a buddy’s race team, (working on one of the pit crews). They just got there new Porter Racing class 1 buggy, we just got back from running the Parker 425 race, tons of work with a new car. Here’s a You Tube video of the OLD car in action. These guys are getting really serious this year. The driver (Steve) is flat out nuts, balls to the wall nuts, He goes one speed -- fast

It drives good, well, as good as a Volkswagen can get. It is a kick in the ass to drive, its "fun". With 142 HP weighing 1600 pounds…. I would call it – adequate,,, it can get out of the way. It’s funny, these VW guys tell me how “fast” it is,,, my ass! , these fools do not know what fast is, My Pantera is “fast”.
