Hi guys, came back from a drive with my exotic car buds last weekend and when I got home realized that my brake lights are staying on all the time. Obviously when I take the key out they turn off, but when the key is on ACC or the car is running, the lights are on constantly. When I disconnect one of the wires off the brake light switch under the master cylinder, they turn off. I tried tapping on the switch to see if it would release, but no help. Anyone know of any possible fixes to try before I replace the switch?

Regards.

I am not sure if there is any way to repair that pressure switch. Even if there is, you would have to remove it from the system. It would be best to just replace it with a new one once the defective switch is removed.
You might consider adapting a switch that is activated by the brake pedal movement instead of brake pressure. Pretty easy to fab a bracket for a plunger type switch.

The two advantages are that you can get the lamps to activate sooner than with a pressure switch, and you would not have to break into the fluid system, requiring tedious bleeding.
Well, I have a set of stainless steel braided brake hoses that I've been wanting to put on the car but have been too lazy to put on. I guess now would be a good time to do it. If I go with an electric switch, I would need to make a bracket for the new switch and then rewire the brake lights.

To drain the system I go.

Thanks so much for your help guys.

Regards.
