I am not sure what the original size was, but I do know what is suitable for cranking the 351C. I recently replaced my battery connections due to poor connector crimping with #4 AWG cable. Make sure you are particular about how many strands make-up the wire size. Some cheap stuff has only a few strands and is not as flexible as a better quality. This will support any of the starter and battery combinations that are used on the Pantera.
Im not positive(pun intended)but i believe it is 0 gauge.I replaced a friends with a cable kit fom Summit part # sum-g1206 for $40.00 and it works so much better.the Summit kit is 1 gauge but is a much higher quality cable,so it has less reistance and is alot more flexible. This is important if you change your cable as it has a couple of turns under the dash.
