Ha! Today I reinstalled the radio that came with the Longchamp when I bought it in 2008. Clearly a wealthy guy had owned this Longchamp from new, the radio installed was the top of the line Blaupunkt Berlin with the gooseneck. IIRC it was twice the price of other car radios at that time.

Originally I took it out. Why? Because I was planning this 1-2 years of daily driver duties and it sounded terrible. So I got a cheap modern radio with Bluetooth and CD player. But it still sounded crap, so I bought new speakers. Fast forward 6 years. Now the Longchamp is being set up for vacations etc., no daily driving, I wanted to install the Blaupunkt again. Made a test bed, and it worked fine, only thing is that the tape is a bit lower volume than the radio.

Installed it today. The perfect radio for a 1978 Gentleman's (or Mafia boss') transportation, don't you think?

Where can one buy quality tapes these days? Cool

Looks great Mikael! I have a blank plate (no radio) in my car and have been casually looking for a Becker Europa to stuff in the hole. I always thought the Berlin was a very cool radio. I will probably get a modified unit with an iPod jack hidden in the console box — eventually.

As for the cassette tapes, eBay always has the answer! I trust that you will be recording them using a vintage B&O system? Big Grin
