I noticed this set up on a Pantera that will be auctioned at BJ. I have often fantasized about an arrangement like this so that I can divorce myself from the rubbish that our Pantera vendors continue to offer (I'm on my fourth slave).

That appears like somebody rigged a Mustang clutch arm to the ZF and some other slave cylinder. No reason it won't work.
FWIW, I used a slave like that when I built my Cobra replica. The slave pulls rather than pushes...obviously.
I guess I didn’t realize that they made cylinders that pulled!!???

Funny that you say that. I believe I bought the slave I used for my Cobra replica from a sand rail company... Would have been in the 1987 timeframe unless I'm misremembering. I didn't have a lot of room to work with. So, the pull slave was the best solution, and it worked just fine even given the leverage issue associated with the shortened clutch arm to clear the frame rail.

The question is why are you on your fourth slave? In what period of time? Different vendors? What fluid are you using?
I was mistaken - I'm on my 3rd slave now (on my 4th master!!). Time period is around 2 years. They all start leaking after 6 months or so, and I drive my car all year round. It never sits more than 2-3 weeks. I have used 2 different vendors, but they all appear to be getting their parts from the same source (the part, box and packing materials look the same). I have used Dot 3 or Dot 4 fluid - does not matter. The vendors have been great, and are also frustrated with the part quality.
I have had the same problems with the masters, but I was able to use a Wilwood.
This has been a constant complaint for me (search my other posts) because it is such a simple part that the 'suppliers' throw together.
....just got back from a drive in MI, 70 and sunny, so I'm feeling fine.....
An alfa montreal slave is the same. You might try one of their vendors.
We have been looking for Montreal slaves but the main Alfa suppliers no longer have it. That is the money if you can find it.
Why not have it re-bored?
After going through crap master and slave cylinders from the vendors I had my original slave and master rebuilt by Whitepost restorations in NY. They do great work and the price was reasonable with a lifetime guarantee. The turn around time was pretty fast too. Very happy with their work.
Rob, how can you say the vendors have been great if they sell you parts that "crap out" after 6 months? It may not be their fault but it is their problem. I wonder if they still sell them, knowing full well there's a problem with them.
I’ve never heard anything bad about White Post, and would ASSUME that a White Post resleeved unit was a superior product to what we are receiving from the vendors. They have been doing this for a very long time.
David- I was trying to be nice because they gave me my money back. But you are correct. If it was my business I would not sell anything that held fluids to avoid upsetting my customers. I think frogmike has the most robust solution. I will take this route when mine starts leaking.

I just ordered one from them. Obviously a weekend already for them in Germany. Cost of the slave was $92 and they will email me shipping charges.
I will keep everyone updated to cost and delivery as it occurs.

The Montreal and 105 use different cylinders. I do not think this is the correct cylinder. The 105 is too short.
I would ask them to verify the overall length of the cylinder.
Panterapatt is correct, the Alfas use different length cylinders. Long thread last year on this very topic (Clutch Slave Cylinder - Leaking Again | The De Tomaso Forums (infopop.cc)) I show measurements/photos of both the 105 and Pantera clutch slave cylinder and they are different depths. I own both a Pantera and Alfa 105 so I had examples to look at directly. The Montreal cylinder may be longer than the 105 version, but I still believe both are shorter than the Pantera version. I ended up having White Post restorations rebuild my Pantera version.
I confirmed somewhere in all those threads that the Montreal is the correct length (I think) and proper bore. Rob bought one of the 105 cylinders and it did not work.
Yeah, agree... the Montreal version is probably the best bet of the Alfa versions.
another potential source - says aluminum which is a plus. I would verify the dimensions

My cost with shipping was $133, paid using PayPal. Their invoicing process is a bit funky, ultimately effective and efficient.
Shipping is with FedEx.
