Thanks for the link up. Probably no chance that Early Ford, pre-'83 control knob will work though since the original turn signal stem has the horn on the end of it. So, using the dash module, which looks easier to operate anyhow, where would you install it? It would look good imbedded into the center console, but I'd hate to cut a hole in the console. Maybe make a small bracket and put it on the right side under the dash?

Cruise control would be really nice. During long trips, my throttle foot gets hot. There's heat down there, it's just opposite the radiator outlet and in the direct path of the fans. I saw a guy's Pantera in Vegas who had put this gray foam insulation on the outlet of the radiator fans, installed from the top, inside the front trunk area. It would be nice to remove my feet from that hot, air uncirculating area, and let them cool down. Cruise control is the best way to click off the miles without getting a ticket too. Makes driving that much easier.... Radar detector goes off, tap the brake a little.... Wanna pass, smash the gas. No brainer driving.

Pantera upgrade kit. Thanks, I like this tip.
Hey George, I tried the cupholder thing in the ashtray but found it got in the way of shifting into 1st, 3rd and 5th. I now use a cupholder called a "passenger"
Actually, I am going to look at the functions of the buttons for the speed control, I have 2 buttons that are not being used in my Painless Wiring RF steering wheel hub

Nice idea for the double stalk fab, but with my mechanical skills I think I'll go with HND-2 and mount the switch somewhere on the dash or coloumn. Of greater concern is how I will be able to use this system with my current speedo cable and GT5 gear regulator from Hall.

As for cup holders, while a venti would be great most of the time, those cell phone calls from the wife making sure I'm still alive; all that shifting and movement; and of course racing anything that tries, tends to keep me real busy. I can almost see a nice venti splashing over my white Isis logo carpet or landing in my lap in the heat of action.

Hmmm... maybe a recessed cylinder with watertight cover (much like a battery box for java) might be a great idea. Sink it into the console somewhere and at least there will be no problem keeping the coffee warm!
George, No Idea how my answer got in ahead of your post. I read your post and posted my response and then yours was gone. Must be some cosmic interference.
The cool thing about the switch setup is that it works by radio frequency and there are no wires in the steering hub. You can program the switches to do just about anything, turn on/off lights, work the horn whatever. You can program up to six different functions. I currently have the horn, fog lights and the oil temp senders. I have one in the block below the fuel pump and one in the pan. I wanted to see what the difference in temps were. Consistantly about 40 degrees cooler in the 10 Qt. oil pan.

They make several different adapters for different steering wheels Mine is a Lecarra, I think they made one for MOMO as well, check out their website. http://www.painlessperformance.com/webcatalog/cat-rfcenter.htm

David,

All you'll need to complete your built in java vault is a flexible surgically sterile tube (straw) taped to the corner of your mouth. In fact, you can even plumb a windshied washer motor inline for those times when you absolutely need a shot during high g-force maneuvers! You can use a nitrous stlye thumb button on your steering wheel at the 1 o'clock position to activate the flow.

Let us know how it works out!

Michael
For another, cheaper cruise option, check out the Audiovox CCS100 ---

This also shows up on eBay. Uses magnets to sense speed through RPM's of driveshaft -- in our case, a half shaft -- instead of trying to tap into speedo cable. Small vacuum cannister -- I found one web site where this had been fitted to a motorcycle. On my list of possible upgrades. Haven't seen one installed.

I don't have access to a digital camera until monday. I'll post a picture for you when possible. I've been meaning to buy a digital camera, maybe this weekend.

For now, the cup holder was purchased via a mail order catalog, its not something I fabricated at home. I simply drilled a hole in the bottom of the cupholder for a screw that passes through the hole in the cup holder and is then screwed into a threaded hole in an aluminum plate. The plate is inserted into the ash tray cut-out in the console, the screw is tightened & cup holder is held firmly in place. Its a very trick little cup holder, folds up into a little black box, flip it open & you have a cup holder. Its black so it matches the console. I think it was purchased from Herrington, or one of those mail order throw aways that seem to arrive daily in the mail.

...

Ah yes, seen many times in older BMWs since they refused to have cupholders in the Ultimate Drivers Machine!
