Same as -2 I think. There should be a plug on the driver's side (it has a big allen "head") below and in front of the shifter box. Technically mine has a factory dipstick inserted there on my very early pushbutton car, though those are very rare. But basically that's the fill level from everything I've ever heard. Both my -1s had the same hole there. I think you can also fill there, as my first -1 didn't have the top fill, though the top fill hole is probably easier.
Generally speaking it is better to have a bit too little rather than a bit too much lube in a transaxle. So when you put the gear lube in allow the unit to sit a good long while until it stops draining out the side hole.

Because gear lube is so viscous, it's possible to overfill the box if you pump it full then quickly put the side plug in and the stuff is pouring out. When the lube heats up it takes up more volume and predisposes to blowing seals, etc.
Dennis,

See the quote below from a previous post by Tai Kridge

quote:
Since the ZF installed in a Pantera runs upside down thecasing compartments that were on the top of the housing & are now at the bottom, - and if the dude that is filling the box watching the "Full" indicator hole in the casing, the first lot of oil will fill up only the first casing - compartment and the oil will then flow out the Full indicator hole quite quickly, having not got to the rest of the box....and if the dude dosent know how much oil should go in, he might close it all up with only some of the compartments filled, leaving one with a un-filled box...

Total should be 3.75 quarts, so it's a good second measure to know how much you should be putting in.

Thought for the day - Since the ZF is mounted upside down in the Pantera is that hole on top truly a fill hole or the original drain plug?
