Is there a preferred way, spot, and orientation to mount the deck lid shocks? I've been trolling through a number of pictures and there seems to be a lot of variation. I think I'm OK on the lid end, but on the engine compartment end, I've got one big fat shock coming out of a hole in the engine compartment. No shock on the other side and there is simply an oval shaped hole with no visible brackets or mounting points. Anybody know what's stock? I don't want to cludge this up.

There should be brackets for the shock mounts on the underside of the trunk (rear)lid. If not, pull up some of Chuck Melton's pictures showing camber bars and rigidity bracing kits. The mounting locations may not be too clear, but you will have some idea. Another option would be to physically inspect another pantera with the proper applicstion of the shocks. Lee
The decklid shock mounts sometimes crack off the inner wheel wells. Take a close look at the shock you have- you'll need to fabricate a mirror image for the other side, of 1/8" steel. One shock will not hold up a std decklid. Replacement shocks are available but be careful-some aftermarket units are for cars with wings and are so stiff that, if the brackets don't crack, the roof will wrinkle!
