Is there any reason for the GTS paint scheme to “blackout” the entire rear lid? I can see the functionality of a blackout front hood and possible the ease of putting on a hood that was painted separate from the car.

Would that ease of painting the entire rear lid separately the reason or is there some design/styling element to break the sweep back line of the rear section.

Were the GTS front hood and rear lid made from aluminum and thus the blackout painting to distinguish them?

given it was for driver glare reduction, was there any reasoning for painting the entire rear lid versus just the surfaces seen by the driver.

In my perpestive, the contrasting full rocker pannel paint scheme "loweres" the car. I don't really see any thing like that from a side view of a blackout rear lid. However, it does make the cabin roof obvious.

How about this then?

I have also liked your paint scheme PanTTera.

It keeps the side view classic lines of the rear quarter and provides the glare reduction function. But will admit that looks like it would take more time and effort to two tone versus painting the entire rear lid.

Now, It might be just the first impression of 30 years ago of seeing a GTS in the showroom that makes the blackout entire rear lid still desirable even though it changes the side profile.

So I am still undecided which scheme I might use if I can ever get back to this project.

Just wonder if anyone ever heard/read comments about the GTS paint scheme from those resonsible back then? Or even more comments from those with an understanding of car design.
