I like to mount a pro billet MSD distributor. In witch case do I have to use a bronze or poly gear?

Steve...If your using the MSD#8577 (ProBillet with small top, which is excellent btw), the steel gear that comes on it is fine.
I believe you go bronze with a full roller cam setup.

Steve. The MSD works perfect (I'd have to look and see what spring setup and bushing I used for advance)........
The Demon is outstanding. Its their 650CFM, ElecChoke, VacSec carb.....I'm extremely pleased with it. Plus, the carb just flat-out looks great also. I'm running the Holly "Red" pump into it (thats auto-regulated), and also added the Russel liquid filled gauge to make sure it maintained a constant pressure. Another nice feature on the BG carbs are the float sight glass for minor adjustments.
Never a "bog", and excellent response. It took a bit to get the 4-corner idle screws adjusted just right. With (4) there's plenty of fuel coming out at idle, so it does not take much at all in the way of turns out.

Which Demon do you have? Street Demon? What size are your primary jets?

Bob. I plan to go with a MSD6AL and a MSD#8979 (Multi-Function Ignition Controller) as I now, I can block the mechanism in the distributor and set all the retard and advance with the software.

FWIW, a stock or reground cam on a cast-iron core traditionally works best with a stock cast-iron gear as the metals are compatible. Bronze, steel or other type gears are only for steel cams such as rollers including factory-hydraulic rollers. Check with your cam grinder for their recommendations.I'd have no qualms at all in removing a good uses gear from a stock distributor & installing it on any aftermarket distributor if I had a cast iron cam. If you do otherwise, be sure to pull the distributor after 100 and500 miles and check the teeth; any wear or thinning of the teeth indicates trouble. Not so easy to check is wear on the integral camshaft gear....
