Does your wife/girlfriend like the Pantera?

Does she ever drive it?

My wife is 28 and doesn't find the Pantera (or many older cars) that appealing. Sure, she admits older cars can be "cool" because they are rare, but she would much rather have a BMW, Audi, Porsche or Acura (of course, she can drive whatever she wants - but having two appealing cars if more fun).

We look at a 500hp GT5 later this month. She likes fast cars and I'm hoping she gets addicted. We'll see if she can handle the clutch and steering (she is 5' 2" - 100 lbs).

Let me know how your Pantera fits into the family.

When I was shopping for the Pantera, she didn't like them - didn't like how they looked. Now she likes it and insists we take it whenever we go out to dinner or get out of town without the kids for a weekend.

She's only driven the car once. The blind spots and the power scare her which, to be honest, is just fine with me. Big Grin

Actually, I have insisted she use the car a couple of times, but she was afraid to back it out of the garage because it's snugged up along side the Mustang with less than 2" between the two cars.
My wife hates the car with a passion. She drove it once in a parking lot and has gone with me in it on a few trips, but she hates thecar. She calls it the "Italian Princess". She will take every oppertunity to lean against it and leave palm marks all over it. She wraps Christmas presents on the wing. SHe tells me constantly how I am just lucky that she loves me more than she hates the car. I think the thing she hates the absolute most is she can't carry on a conversation while riding in the car. I happen to like that.
My son used to love the car now he doesn't. My Daughter didn't used to care for the car , now she likes it because it attracts potential boyfriends. The dogs hate the car cause it hurts their ears when it is coming and going.
My wife hates the car but puts up with it..

Shotgungrooms- you must be married to my wifes sister. I think that is one of the reasons she hates the car: can't figure out how to adjust the temperature or put the window up(or down).

My hat is off to whoever lets his wife back up a Pantera- he must be absolutely fearless!!!
My wife "puts up" with both me & the car & someday she may even try to drive it. She once made the comment that in order to get her into the drivers seat I would have to duct tape 2X4 blocks on all the pedals so she could reach them. I informed her that if such blocks were duct tape to anything it would be the bottoms of her shoes Smiler Of course, as many of you have already commented, this can be a GOOD thing!
Wow...I didn't realize how lucky I am. Carol loves the car. She drives it every chance she gets. Funny enough, she always asks me if she can drive it first. She takes her girlfriends shopping and running around. They always giggle and tell me how many young guys fuss over them in the car! She has even taken a couple of girlfriends up the Big Thompson Canyon (very twisty, long, and fun and only 30 miles from here) and scared them silly. When ever we go out she always wants to take the Pantera. She encouraged me to buy it right from the start.
Might have something to do with the fact that she rides her own Harley too!

My wife rode in it twice; First was a local POCA chapter brunch run, where she decided it was too low, too noisy, too fast and way too noticeable.... Ooh why's everyone looking at us? Wink

Second time she came to a local car show, on leaving I stepped on it and brought the rear end around; I still have that screeching sound ringing in my ears now.....no not the tires, HER Big Grin

She hasn't been in it since, but she did decide afterwards she would like a sports car too, but it had to be 'civilized' and a convertible so I got a deal on an MGB roadster. It is currently undergoing restoration and should be ready for paint in a week or two. It's turned out to be a good investment, I get to play with the Pantera far more now Wink

Ahhh, such a clever plan Joules, well done...

I'm amazed at how many of you guys have wives that hate your car.

I guess I'm lucky (second time — the odds were better...), mine loves the Pantera and insists she will never let me get rid of it (not that I would). When I decided I wanted a GT40 for track use, she was all for it so I wouldn't risk banging up her "baby" Pantera. Now when I show her ads for a Mangusta or a Bora she starts talking about how we need a house with more garage space. Have I died and gone to heaven? Smiler

Oh, and she can't drive standard so she makes do with her RX-8.
My wife is 5'2" and of slight build. She is a good driver (prefers stick), but won't drive the Pantera because

a) it requires too much physical effort
b) she doesn't want to be responsible for dinging it

Works for me...

She's not a car person, but it was due to her encouragement that I actually bought it. She also wants me to make sure it has everything it needs, such as new tires, tuneup on the dyno, etc. (I'm not making this up!) Lucky me.
The wife motived me to get the car...actually nagged - which was odd for her.

Bought it a month or so before the kid was born, so she only rode in it once, while mega-pregnant.

She has lost interest in it... But then she never drove it. She would like to go for the occasional drive.. but I can't let her drive, she has WAAAY to many tickets!

How you introduce the two is important.
