I WAST TRYING TO REPAIR THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCK ON MY 74 PANTERA AND I PUSHED THE LATCH WHICH CATCHES THE POST ON THE FRAME DOWN TOWARD THE FLOOR AND I CANNOT GET IT BACK UP SO THE DOOR WILL CLOSE

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

It should release with the door handle, just as if you were opening the door. If I recall it has two positions you may need to push the latch further to the second position and then use the door handle

Ditto what Julian suggested. I would use the inside handle instead of the out side handle.
