I have looked at this car and I think I should post a few things incase a potential buyer is on this site. This car (depending on your taste) will need a complete paint job, the car is black w/huge gold metal flakes dusted over it. There is also a huge sunroof chopped into the top of the car, The inner fenders are gone and rain will roost all over the electronics... It is not my intention to trash another guys cat, but these significant details are not apparent from the auction. A buyer may be very disappointed seeing this car in person. In light of the required corrections (in my view), I offered the seller $18,000 for it a few months ago...

HUH!!???

You DO mean the splash shields are gone, right?

THAT is an easy bolt-on fix.

But if the INNER FENDERS are gone, then this car has some major problems.

Please clarify.

Larry

P.S. - Must say, it IS the first Pantera I have seen with MUD FLAPS!!?????

Black with gold metal flakes? Maybe that's why there are no clear pictures of the car, only pictures with reflections all over the car. If it's in mint condition, why are there no pictures of the interior or the engine compartment? To me, a good indicator is the front trunk area - if that's a mess, usually the rest of the car is too.

Good to have "another set of eyes" out there. For the life of me I couldn't find the sunroof, not even an edge of it. It must be flush fit?

Boy, if that is NOT disclosed in a description, especially one including the word "mint", something is heavily amiss. We'll see a feedback on this one later for sure.

Here's my question-
Since Im trying to sell my cat:
1) what types of pictures should I absolutely have?
2) what type of description should I include
3) any tips for putting the car on eBay?? ...as I've never sold anything of this caliber online before.

I'd appreciate this input from all

Thanks in advance!

If you think like a buyer instead of like a seller, your chances improve dramatically.

Instead of only having "glory" shots, include the ones we ALL want to see also... underneath and/or the 'known' problem areas.

Same with your description. Instead of the 'mint, perfect, rust-free, immaculate' things we ALL hear and summarily question, give the justification for same PLUS a few faults. Such as...

"Car starts first twist of the key and idles smoothly, pulling full oil pressure. About 1 in 50 times I look at the gauge, I'll notice it's stuck, but a tap with my index finger (which 'repairs' many old car faults)and it's back to normal. Hey, it's a 35 year old gauge."

Also talk like a person instead of a dealer...

"There are no weird noises or known defects (or my mechanic would've told me WAY before now!)" to make yourself more 'real' and credible.

Lastly, give buyers more proof than they want. "I have all the reciepts for the work mentioned, plus can send compression numbers to anyone who asks, and the phone number of my shop is (PHONE) but please remember they're earning a living and would prefer to answer the 'big picture' questions than details that I could answer for you."

Again, put on your "doubting, buyer mindset" and answer all those questions for them before they have to ask them. Your credibility will soar far above the poorly described, poorly photographed examples... that typically fail to sell. Wonder why?

Good luck with it.
What they said.... list the bad news first, wrap up w/the good news, clear photo's, show the big scratch/big dent. If some one talks with you several times and travles 500 miles to pick up your car and finds out about a huge scratch or a sunroof that was never mentioned ??... The deals is off because they will just disregard everything you ever told them?.. The truth is a force of nature, it's there waiting... it will show eventually...

Right after posting, the seller asked me for my email so he could send some photos. Curiously, he asked for my email address in an email sent to my email address.

He mentioned the car was owned by his now deceased son-in-law.

I'm guessing he's not particularly computer or ebay literate. If there's moonroof cut into it, my interest level drops to about zero.

You should do nothing until I finish debating whether to have a go at it. Smiler --David
