Jack, I own a 74 Pcar with the GT5 body kit with JFZ brakes front and rear. What I don't have is emergency brakes. Every Emergency brake part that came with the car has been removed. I think that using Line-locks would be my last choice. I have found that Wilwood makes small/light mechanical calipers that could be used, but would need custom brackets to mount them to the PPC rear uprights. I will be needing from the Brake handle in the cockpit to cables to brakes. Jack what do you think? Whats the best way to add e-brakes to my ride. Thanks in advance.....Doug.H

I used the Wildwood cable-operated spot-brakes meant for go-karts, in my installation. You'll need to fab a braket for the calipers ton slide back & forth, as you say, and the calipers are designed for 0.810-thick rotors. If your JFZs are 1.25" thick, you'll also need to make a pair of caliper-spacers to widen them. I wrote an article in the Aug '98 POCA news on this adaption, with photos. In retrospect, they don't work any better than the stockers although they're only 1/4 the unsprung weight. They also rattle a little. I'll probably address this issue again, from another angle, when my new shop is finished.
Jack, thanks for the feed back. Would you have happened to have taken out your mechanical drawing desk, T-square and #5 pencil actually draw the brackets that you made to mount the Wilwoods to the rear up rights? That would save alot of hours. I will look through Tony Digiovanna's old News letters for the article that you mentioned. Thanks again............Doug.H
As far as the mounting bracket, thats shown in the article, with dimensions. I didn't make real engineering dwgs, just started cutting aluminum on my milling machine, and I don't save this stuff on a computer- its gone on for close to 100 POCA and P.I.issues! There was an update in the October '98 POCA issue, as well as the main article in Aug'98. Small alterations must be made to the Wilwood brake lever to fit the Pantera e-brake cable- the width is too small on the cable clevis.
MSM....While out to see the my little brother graduate from the Air force Academy, I stopped in to see Mr. Quella at Pantera Performance Center. I inquired about e-brakes and a bracket for the Wilwood mechanicals. He is actually in the process of designing and making the brackets for this application. He also took 2 hours out of his busy day to show me his shop, sharing some of his history, and answering my numerous rookie questions.
.....So yes the brackets are on the way....give him a call and probably talk with Ray, tell her what you are looking for, as in these are my current brakes/Uprights and rotor dimensions, this could help Dennis Q to determine the market for his new parts.....Doug.H

I'm also interested in these brackets, but they have to fit with a wilwood 4 piston brake caliper, and a vented disk rotor.
You can mail me if you need any further specs
