May sound simple but....... I'm looking for a hoist (for a friend of mine). Its just going to pull a smallblock chevy from a boat.

I see a few out there (NorthernTools..etc, EBAY)...but honestly I'm thinking safe on this one. (kinda like those wimpy jack with narrow wheel bases you see in Walmart)....an accident waiting to happen.

Any suggestions........At or under $200 if possible?

I have the one from Costco, made by Alcan. $200. 4000 lb. Capacity. It's Pretty Beefy. Also includes a screw action Engine "leveler/tilter". Marlin.

The load-leveller is a valuable accessory. Lifting a 351C with the ZF & bellhousing, the balence point is about at the rear of the heads & it will need to tip a little. Lifting only the ZF & bellhousing is difficult since theres really no place to bolt a strap on, and typically you gotta tip the thing anyway to get it in & out unless you unbolt the rear mounts & CAREFULLY floor-jack under the engine pan ('72-up cars)
