I'm looking for some thoughts and experiences on the best pre-oiler to use to protect my new 393 stroker.

I see a lot of Accusump (Canton) units for sale on Ebay reasonably priced, anyone using one? If so are you using an EPC control and at which PSI?

What about the Amsoil unit, more expensive but they have one that combines with their remote dual filter and is a pretty compact set up. I'm just thinking of space as there is going to be a lot of plumbing because I'm installing a Laminova water-oil cooler as well.

Thanks for any guidance or experience, good or bad.

I installed a 3 qt. Accusump system in my car about 4 years ago and am very happy with it. Mounted it in the front trunk & wired the solenoid with a small on-off rocker switch so I could avoid preoiling the engine everytime the ignition was turned on. No need to preoil if all you want to do is raise the headlights for instance. Mainly installed for track use but I always use it before firing the engine & I like seeing the oil pressure build up for awhile before hitting the starter. YMMV,but I love it & have yet to see any drop in oil pressure at any track event I've participated in.
Happy New Year. Not sure how much you studied my setup, but very close to what you are building. I have the 3 qrt system, EPC and a aeroquip oil to water cooler. It all works, pre-lube pressure is about 20-25psi lasts about 12 secs before dropping off.

Plumbing is a bitch and you must use big lines to reduce pressure loss. -10 or -12 AN are needed. Space is tight but it can fit and look clean. Dual remote filters are an added security and also reduces pressure loss.

It is just a lot of lines, which makes me nervious. Losing one line not a good thing. Something to be said about not having external oil lines for reliability.

I have the winsor the heads are not as wide as the cleveland. Not sure how much that would impact the space you have.

Thanks to all for the input.

Steve,

Drop me a line or call when you are back in town again, we should get together.

Now I'm back from my stint in the frozen tundra it looks more and more like I'll be staying in Reno for the foreseeable future.
