Fabricating Bumpers

Since they offer minimal protection at best, why not eliminate the bumpers entirely. I assume you are having the body redone since L bumpers and pre-L bumpers have differnt mounting holes. Take a look at some of the pictures without bumpers they look pretty clean.

The L bumpers are off the car and the body work has been completed. I do like the look and would leave things the way they are if it weren't for the diligent police force in the next town over. The car it self draws enough attention and then there's the exhaust (Big Bore) which makes the car impossible to miss. I'm trying to avoid an equipment violation so this is why I want to add the Pre-L type bumperettes.
Any dimensions you could provide would help me and reduce the time I would have to spend making the mock-up.

Do you know these early small bumpers are available from the vendors in fiberglass? Mucho cheaper than hunting down original metal deTomaso bumpers. I know it is winter time in Illinois and the snow will keep you cabin fevered for a few months and you may want a project to keep you busy, but black painted fiberglass bumpers would keep the neighboring gendarmes off your case and be pretty simple.
