thanks, guys, the question is for a Mangusta. The driver's side fan is a smaller blade than the passenger side, smaller to avoid the water pipes from the radiator...So its pretty special (even if probably not all that effective, due to the very small size). I'm now in a different country than the fan blade or motor...so pretty much relying on anyone with a goose to tell me which way is which...! Thanks--Lee
A good trick to improve efficiency on the fans is to make a thin sheetmetal ring about two inches wide and about a half inch in diameter larger than the fan, it can be pop riveted together. Find some small rubber u-channel and put that on the side that will go against the radiator. Then make four thin wire fasteners about an inch longer than the radiator core thickness. With a needle nose pliers bend the
wire at the end in a U shape with about 1/2 inch at the short end, allowing enough room for one fin in the radiator.

To fasten the ring around the fan use the wires, slide them in from the front of the radiator after locating the fan ring, wrap them loosely against the back of the ring to position the ring and then gently tighten them with a pliers so that they locate the ring firmly. You can also twist the wires on the side of the ring to shorten them.

That gives the fan more suction.
