Wow. Now, how about some photos of that Yellow Mangusta it's reflecting?

I must say, I'm a sucker for dark red on a Pantera — although I prefer it with chrome trim. I really like the look of the larger wheels with the stock-style powder-coating. Sort of nouveau-retro.

That link show a tremendous restoration. The interior trim and leather-work is incredible. This is the way the stock interior would have looked had the Pantera sold for the price of a Ferrari.

Thanks for the pics!
Thank you for all the kind words. I am glad you blokes like my Pantera.
To answer Vince's question, the paint is a urethane or 2 pack as we call it, House of Kolor candy branywine (code UK-1) over solar gold (code BC-01) The thing to remember about candy is the more paint you apply, the darker it gets.
The paint shop had finished my car and clearcoated it. When I went to see it I was not happy with the colour. I expected it to be darker. So they reluctantly keyed the clearcoat and shot another 4 coats of candy and then cleared it again.
My car has a lot of paint!
Normally the more paint you put on something the easier it chips off. This is not the case here. In fact this is the toughest paint I have ever known on a car. I have now covered 13000 miles and still have no stone chips.

Hi Michael,

I bought the wheels from Steve Wilkinson. I had to increase the length of my travelling trunk by 4" to fit them in. I carried 2 at a time over 2 separate trips. They looked great on the xray machine in the airport and seemed quite light after the 4v iron heads on the trip before that! the size is 16x8 front and 17x11 rear. I had a hard time getting steve to make me the 16" front's,
He had stopped making the 16's altogether, and wanted me to have 17"s on the front, but I said no way, I must have the 16"s.
So he relented, but I dont think he would again!

I would consider going to an 18"x12.5" on the rear just to get that extra width. But I am not sure if it would look OK with 16" fronts. Has anyone done this on a narrow bodied car? I would like to see what it looks like.

Johnny
Johnny,

I've seen your exact wheels with 17" on the back and 15" stock wheels on the front. I thought the diameter difference was too great, and very noticable. A 1" difference front to rear is much more subtle, and actually looks better than the same rim diameter all around.

Laslo Antal of Australia has a black GR4 clone with 16" and 18" rims. It was the last PI issue cover car. If you can find a picture of that Pantera in profile, you may get a better idea of what those diameters might look like together.

Marino of Pantera East may have pics too, he sells clones in 16" or 17" for the front, 17" or 18" for the back, and his advertising makes it seem he prefers the 16"/18" combination.

Personally I would like to see clones available in 17" front, 19" back, running tires that are 2"" different in OD, so the sidewalls are of similar proportion.

Johnny, like everyone else, I love the car, the color is gorgeous.

George
Have been looking at Laslo Antal's GR4, what a mean looking car.
I just had a look in my 'Panteras for the road' book by Henry Rasmussen and I think I am right in saying (correct me if I am wrong) that Gary Hall was running 16" and 19" wheels on the burgundy express car back in the 80's. It does not say so in the book. I will ask Bobby Byers next time I see him.
These sizes were only available in race rubber back then of course.
I always loved the look of that car and attribute my colour choice to it.

Johnny
