Never seen any springs on mine

Manual references springs. They hold tension on the pads to help keep them in place and clearly shows it in the photo in the manual....??

Johnnek, they are flat sheet-springs used to keep the pads from rattling. You can certinly do without them, but if this is a show restore, all the vendors have used ones laying around.

Which month was the POCA article? I am about to dive into a caliper rebuild and I am thinking this could be handy

And while I am at it, should I gut the stock proportioning valve? I read the sticky thread and it did not seem conclusive? Would a "T" replacement from (insert best vendor kit here) be preferred over gutting the stock valve? Thank you in advance.
