I HAVE A 74L AND THE FUEL FILLER NECK HAS NO RUBBER HOSE ON IT. IT IS A COUPLE OF LENGTHS OF STEEL TUBING WELDED TOGETHER. BOTH BOLTED TO THE TANK AND TO THE OUTSIDE BODYWORK. ALTHOUGH THE BOLTS WERE NEVER INSTALLED TO THE BODYWORK. THIS MIGHT BE A GOOD THING AS THE BODY CAN FLEX WITHOUT BEING PULLED AT BY THE GAS TANK. YOU CAN REACH THIS AREA THROUGH THE REAR OPENING FOR THE WINDOW (DECK CLOSED) OR WITH THE DECK OPEN. GOOD-LUCK, MARLIN.
This task was done at the "Detail Day" event.
Go to http://geocities.com/provamo72/
Select Past events, then Detail Day for images.

There is a short fuel-grade rubber hose from the filler to the elbow that is connected to the tank. (On most cars with the outside filler.)

Looking at the image, you can see access is from below. Take the wheel off, splash shield if you have one, and reach up with a screwdriver, to loosen the outside hose clamp.
Loosen the other hose clamp, at the elbow on the tank end, from the engine bay side.
Take off the panel that covers the top of the gas tank, and for easy access, take out the 1/4 window (with frame, gasket and all).

Remove the 4 bolts that affix the outside filler "neck". Twist and pull. If tight, squirt some WD40 or ? between the hose and pipe. This gives you some flex room.
Fuel grade hose can be found at most auto parts stores, you need 6-8 inches. It's a (expensive)firm, thick, tough-to-cut type of hose.
We put one side on, (tank), then the other end took a little persuading. Finally stuff the filler neck (the outside ring)on, and bolt back down.

If nuts, washers, or bolts fall off...
Most will land on top of the tank, some might hit the ground.
Don't let one fall between the gas tank and the body, as it could get 'lost'.

Come on guys !
My links tend to change, the steering rack details for example, so I don't want to go back thru threads looking for links to my website, and correct them. Just follow along...

Above, I wrote:

So if the first link displays....You are at the home page.
Select "Past Events"
I am now, and I went here: http://geocities.com/provamo72/Events_Page.html

Then I Select "Detail Day"....and I found this: http://geocities.com/provamo72/ClarkSession_1.html

The second image is.....Ta Da ! A bad hose.

It worked for me ! Really !
I'll presume you guys are just teasing me, and I'll go back to my garage.
OK you guys, quit giving my friend Chuck a bad time. Providing the direct URL is more difficult than you might think. In my case, because of the size and traffic at my website it was too difficult and slow to administer a hosted site over the Internet so at significant expense I put up my own web server. I administer the site over a super fast 100 baseT switched Intranet. The downside is that the URL I see on the Intranet must be translated to the URL you would use to access the site, e.g. I cannot use http://www.PanteraPlace.com. When I try to translate the direct URL (and I do sometimes) it is very easy to provide the wrong info. So there you have it, any suggestions?
