Fuel Line Routing

What's the appropriate routing for the fuel line from the tank pickup to the fuel pump? Line I'm replacing ran between the tank and the heat shield looping under the frame on it's way to the pump. That routing doesn't seem proper to me. Please advise.

...I ran My line over the tank shield and to the pump with a 'Metal' can filter AFTER the pump to prevent vapor lock. I 'tied' the hose to the firewall to keep it as far away from the headers as possible!! Keep all lines, and filters, far away from any heat source...

Thanks, Marlin. That's the routing I was planning being uncomforatbel with the current routing. Replacing a glass filter with a metal one, too.
