I'm thinking about getting into a deal some fellow Deauville owners are setting up, and that is getting a stainless system build including headers. It should come out at € 2.750,00 for the whole system.
Some say you don't need stainless headers but I have heard more than one story of requently having to weld the originals. They never fitted properly judging from the fact that DT had to cut and weld them to fit in the enginebay.
I think the price is ok and many of you say, once in never out, right?
What's to be expected in terms of extra HP and are there any serious drawbacks to stainless headers ?
Remember, these will go into a Deauville which might see some spirited driving but no track use i.e. no real serious heat development.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi Roland,

I know that it will always be a custom job for each Deauville. So does the maker of these systems. Every system will be tailor made for each car, 2 series 1, 1 series 1 1/2 and a series 2. The price will be equal for all. I have seen his work on Triumph Stag with a Rover V8 and that was a real tight fit but looked really first class. Most of his work consist of making custom race exhaust system.

I'm looking for SS headers for the PANTERA ?? DOoes anyone sell the 351C header flanges with the universal kit to make a set ???

Ron

I agree with Panteradoug, better off with coated headers, look great and last a long time. If you really want SS,
Stainless Works should be able to provide the flanges in SS and the primary pipe and collectors. I bought a complete system from one of my BOSS302 cars a few years back, it fit like a glove, which is remarkable for a complete end-to-end system..

Hi Ron,

I live in Landsmeer, which is a nice rural old farmers village. Plenty of nature and space and also a 10 minute drive from Amsterdam central station. Best of both worlds I say.
I guess each of us has their thing with stainless and mild steel. Not sure yet what to do. It will be a car to drive and not a trailer queen and as for looks, I both like stainless and the ceramic look. As for the general weather conditions here I'm tempted by stainless.
It will sit in a non heated garage and might sit there for weeks, especially during winter.
DUTCHIE,

Never been to your town but I did have a APT in AMSTERDAM for a year. Its was on Kadijksplien near the Marritime Museam. Also a wedding last month in ARNEHEM and got to visit Germany for the first time. Near Arnehem we visited a guy who sold only US car parts... hehad 2 Pantera's Shelby's an a load of Mustangs.

I'm going to look for the SS headers and take my chances.

Hi Ron,

Hope you had a good time living in Amsterdam.
The guy you visited must be Mr Voorend in a town called Gendt. He also owns a Longchamp series 1 which he was restoring last time I saw him two years ago.
Did he still have that silver Deauville tucked away in a corner ? It's been sitting there since 1988.
