A Euro 1973 car, imported from Italy, is for sale here in California.

I can find nothing in the photos that is not OEM. It even has the Michelin XWX tires. Perhaps the plug wires and some of the coolant hoses are not stock, but this one is damn near all original.

Worth a look:

OK, BUT:

Lots of surface rust on the suspension. Where else?

What are the screw holes around the front bumpers (both sides) from?

Is the side-view mirror screwed through the trim, or is that just how it appears to me?

Too bad the tires aren't ALL XWXs

How long did the front trunk stay open to cause that much fading?

Why are the rear wires not routed correctly on the upper tabs?

Yes, a "survivor", but (IMHO) it would only win a concours for "ran well when parked wet" class. This does not look like a carefully-maintained car, but a daily driver that was put away at some point. The question is, how long ago was it last used regularly?

I think the red car posted earlier is a better value.

Stock holes that at that time would normally receive two of the small attachment studs for the rubber bumper.

Echh, afraid so.

Yea, what's up with that?

Still, very original. But yes, put away wet.

Yeah, some people (my staff) just see me as more able to see flaws than your average bear.

There is a lot you can tell about a car when there are good reference photos of it. I love looking at the details and trying to put them together to get the real story on the car. BTW, I certainly don't fault the car or FJ's presentation or representation of it. It is an honest survivor as described. It's just not a perfect car. Mine isn't and I've yet to see a Pantera that is. Even the "100-mile" Pantera is not "perfect" because it isn't exactly the way it left the factory either (coating headers etc.).

It would be interesting to see if such a Pantera exists.

Oh, and the red Pantera has a few minor (very) issues as well. There are two screws in the center console (see from PS) that don't make sense to me, the engine has been poorly shot in a couple spots with blue paint to tart (or hide head gasket weeping like mine had?) it up (and the yellow "OK" on the valve cover looks a bit too fresh), there are some wires in the engine bay (lights, reverse switch) that are not following stock routes, the A/C lines have connections mid-bay and the steering wheel pad looks pretty beat-up for a 10,000 mile car. BUT, overall it looks like a MUCH better car to me. I haven't had the fortune of seeing either in person and THAT'S when you can really see what is real quality and what isn't. If I was looking for a very clean original car, I'd make a trip to see the red car in person, but not the blue one.
