Ron, I have a Jet Hot coated Edelbrock F351 2V intake if you're interested.

You got anything else for a Pantera in the rafters I might be able to use, like an Edlebrock Performer intake manifold, 700 - 750 cfm carb, or other interesting pieces that fit a '73L with stock 351C? Thanks,
Ron

Ron, I have lots of "stuff" in the rafters, but no intake manifold. I suppose some day I should do an inventory and post items. Then the wife will be happy to buy more shoes.

DOES200, I guess if the wife REALLY wanted you to clean out the rafters and post that stuff for sale, she'd be telling you she wants to buy more BIKINIS, Maroon ones and Orange ones! Why else go up in the rafters and mess around with all that dusty stuff, but I could get motivated, under the right circumstances.... No problem DOES200, happy honeymoon!!! - Ron
Ron, I just took it off my 351C, so shouldn't be an issue. Need to have 2V heads though. I'm thinking $230, Jet Hot coating ran $130 when I had it done last year.

Husker, is that gonna fit my stock 351C, if so, then yeah, I'm interested, how much are you wanting for it? Thanks for the response, Husker. - Ron

I HAVE A SET OF JET COATED 4V HEAD HEADMAN
HEADERS STILL IN THE BOX FROM PPC- COST $350 WILL PART WITH FOR $250. I AM PUTTING A GTS COATED ON MY CAR. I DO HAVE ONE EXTRA GTS EXHAUST SET ALSO JET COATED. MAKE OFFER
Husker, I think I've got the 4V heads. It's pretty much a stock '73 'L' engine with only the Hall Pantera dress-up kit. I AM curious how the Jet-Hot worked on the manifold for you though. Did it run any better? Was that the Sterling Jet-Hot color? If I find out I've got the 2V Heads, we'll be talking about a deal, but for now, I've got a 4V deal on the intake manifold with another guy. May be learning the hard way!!!

Jet-Hot has raised their prices too, my headers were $50 more to do than yours.

Thanks for the offer. Got a front sway bar for sale?

Ron

Ron, are you all set for headers, or still looking? Like I said, I could post a photo if you want (this photo would be without the maroon headlights though).
DOES200,

My headers and entire exhaust assemblies were just sent to Jet-Hot today for their Sterling silver ceramic coating treatment. My headers are in good shape and won't corrode at all now. I made an inquiry to Bob Benson regarding his GTS exhuast sans headers. If they're the right kind, right color, then I may soon have two (2) sets of exhausts, GTS & stock ANSA's. Hope the GTS are Sterling color, with baffles only. Then I may have to decide which exhaust system sounds better! Music, in Italian! My favorite note and pitch!

It was the guy who had the pin hole in his header above who may be interested. I'd offer a price and see if he takes it. Ciao DOES200. Thanks.

Ron
Ron, I'm not so sure Jet Hot coating improves performance much. It probably reduces the heat generation somewhat. It looks great and is super easy to clean.
Got any pics of your project? I started mine about a year ago.

Husker,
I've got this mental picture of what I want it to look like when I'm finished, but haven't taken too many pics to show the before. I've got a few when I bought it, showing a 727 landing in the background at John Wayne Airport in Irvine, CA, with hangars and small planes tied down, a few with the disassembled A-Arms, wheels and headers laying in the garage next to the car on jack stands. They are on regular film, which I'll get developed with prints and a 3.5" disk at Walgreens. Then maybe I can look into how DOES200 and RoBeRt got their photos online at that website. I was gonna sign DOES200's guestbook there and it sort of looked like you gotta register, but it may be free to just post pictures on there.

Any comments DOES200 or RoBeRt? Is it free or how much? How did you do that?

So, anyway, my Pantera has the A-Arms ready to paint. The front fender wells totally cleaned and repainted in flat black, the calipers are painted aluminum color, the disk brake backing plates and uprights are painted gloss black, the brake hoses are painted tire black (gonna replace them with SS braided hoses custom made by a local guy later). The bearings/other bushings are all good. So, I'm gonna order a replacement front sway bar tomorrow and bolt the front end back together as soon as it arrives (next week).

I'm picking up the back sway bar from the chrome guy tomorrow (shoulda just gone with Hall Pantera ($60 plus core but didn't want to mess with packaging and shipping, shoulda, chrome guy cost $80 and took 2 weeks).

The rear fender wells are gonna be cleaned, wire brushed, wiped down, maksed and painted flat black over the next weekend and weeknites. The Half shafts gotta be cleaned and repainted gloss black. By then the headers and exhausts should be back and ready to install with good bolts (Stage-8 and probably Stove bolts with double nuts and donut gaskets for now).

I'll shoot some more photos and try to post them, if I can figure out how DOES200 and RoBeRt did that, since you asked. But that may be a lower priority as I wanna drive her a little more, before doing the intake manifold project. But, then after that is done, the engine bay should start looking really nice. It was painted white to match the body when I made the purchase. I liked that. It didn't have the dents filled, so a project for 2004 or 2005 is to remove the ZF, send it to RBT, get the taller 5th gear install/upgrade, get them to do the safety wire procedure and get it polished along with the bell housing. Maybe $2,000 to 3,000 gotta budget I'm hoping.

It's got adjustable gas shocks, leather interior, new carpets and headliner, but some stupid looking rear view mirrors that do not look good at all. Found a bodyman who likes to work weekends on customs and hot rods, seen him do a '69 Charger, fill in the holes where the trim was for the awful vinyl top. This guy wants $130! to solder my holes, and repaint both doors!! He's got a project as soon as he wants!!!! Glue on mirrors will clean up the lines, flat black, so as to blend in with the interior from a side view. Maybe do the trim in blackout or remove it and have it done anodized, the right way later. White face guages should contrast nicely in the interior.

My Pantera. The way I want it. Done by me and my buddies. Car crazy, all of us.

But may go behind schedule to water ski this weekend! LOVIN' LIFE!!!

Keep in touch Husker,

Ron
Ron, sonuds like you are going high tech...with your photos. To get photos onto a website or a photo album like Webshots is pretty easy. I have a website with AOL on the link below, and to use this, just click the "Create" button on the top left of this link: http://hometown.aol.com/ciao4u2/index.html

The Webshots are a little easier for posting photos, and I am getting to like this better. Just click the "sign up" button on the top right of this link: http://community.webshots.com/user/does200

Both sites are free. Posting of photos is pretty easy once you get the hang of it, just like anything else.
Thank you DOES200. I'm gonna do it but my roll of film is only half way used. It'll take a few weeks to get photos posted, but I think that'll be fun. Maybe others will paste links to their online photos too. Every one of our cars is distinct and I love looking at Panteras. Gives me ideas. I'll put the url on the message board, like DOES200!

Well Looks like I do need new headers.... Need to pull and unwrap. ...which looks like a chore and a half....Bob

Bob (zfett), it's not that bad to get it done. Remove the passenger side splash shield and do those from below. The driver's side can be done like this: the forward header bolts at the heads can be done from over the top of the motor. The back ones can be accessed from below. Takes a 9/16" socket, I used a 3/8 " drive ratchet, a couple of bolts required a short extension, one bolt needed a knuckle, and one bolt had to done with an open end wrench. The 3 flange bolts are easy, the flange will twist around for easy access once the bolts are loose. Of course, gotta put her up on jack stands and take off the rear tires. Headers come right out the bottom, no problem.

I'd use a box cutter and cut back the wrapping on the headers about 9" to a foot and peel back the wrapping. There was a post in the Technical Questions and Advice Forum about wrapped headers. Search "Header Insulator". This topic explained why wrapping headers accelerates corrosion in headers due to lack of heat dissipation. The topic was within the last 30 days.

You'll probably want headers on both sides since both were wrapped. After 30 years, the headers are going to have some corrosion, even if left unwrapped. Jet-Hot Coatings has a process which applies ceramic coatings to headers to reduce corrosion.

Check your hoses while you're inside the fender well on the passenger side.... It'll take a couple of hours or so, if you're not a mechanic. I also recommend covering the clutch window hole on the bell housing so no nuts or bolts fall in there. That would be a bad thing to have happen. Hope all goes smoothly for you during this repair. - Ron
