headlight woes

The gearbox and motor is the same as the electric window motors (I have been told).
They have a plastic gearwheel with a metal centre and eventually crack and jam in the gearbox.
If this is the problem you can get replacement gears from the US vendors and also in Europe.
Which continent are you on?
I've done my windows, I bought a third gear ready for when the headlamp motor fails.

Actually, removing the gear and motor assembly isn't terribly difficult. It takes some patience and its a bit difficult if you've got big ole paws. The motor and gear are mounted on a plate. The whole assembly is removed as one. I removed mine out the top, another owner went out the bottom.

Thanks guys for your input. My gut tells me it's in the little gearbox, since the motor looks fairly new.

Once the unit is off the car it's very easy to dismantle and put in a new gear.
Take you less than 15 minutes.

Well guys, I was close. I traced the fuse burning load to the electric motor, (took 10 minutes to remove), took the motor apart, and what a testiment to Pantera parts, all of the armature wires were smoked, all of the insulation was off! It also operated,(barely), gearbox turns very easily. so I need a motor! Anybody got a motor????? Thanks, Keith

Update, California guy is trading me Panteras. Looks like I restore another Pantera!
