I have done a search but cannot locate the answer, on the 2 heater rear pipes under the car, which side of those 2 pipes connects to the water pump stem?
I don't know, but here is an illustraction that might help
I am thinking the block hot supply would go to the valve and the cold return to the pump would be from the core. so if the drawing is correct, the return to the pump would be left side?
I've personally found Panteras in which the heater-hose hookups were both ways. Thats why back in the early '80s, event organizers began requiring BOTH heater hoses- the supply & return- to have positive mechanical cut-off valves when running open-track events. You just couldn't depend on one line to always be the pressurized one, and Tech Instectors didn't want to have to dig around in the cars to ascertain the routing. FWIW, it will work fine either way, as will the arrangement of the radiator hoses up front.
I'm standing here looking into my empty engine compartment (1972), and the drivers side pipe goes to the water pump. The passenger side goes to the coolant tank.
That #29 was the remote temp sensor port in the surge tank which, I guess, could be used to vent if the sensor was moved to its proper place in the block. The '74s also had another vent hose that went from the rad all the way to the back somewhere but it was only a 1/8" hose.
