Looking for information on the high beam lighting system. 1969 Mangusta brought over from Italy in approximately 1976 never been registered in the US. The car was dip stripped probably around 1980. Wiring was reinstalled most things seem to work okay however the High beams do not function, we have managed to trace the wiring from the high beam fuse to the turn signal indicator also can see the headlight relay however do not know how it all ties together. So far it appears to be wired with a green and black wire. Does anyone have an idea how it is actually wired? Also the low beams do work.

Bill, I wanted to comment quicker but needed to check a few items first. Anyway curious if the stock wiring harness was re-installed after the restoration? (the green/black wires mentioned suggest so). If so you should find that L and R high beams are wired separately to the first fuse on the fuse box (i.e., two separate wires, both are green/black). This fuse is powered from another large green/back wire (call it wire #3 for convenience) that goes to the 4-lug wiring block near the steering harness. At this end wire #3 connects to the blue/white lead from the turn signal assy. Also at this end, wire #3 is crimped to a fourth green/black wire that runs to the light relay (one of the elements that is missing on the Hall diagram). Unfortunately I can't find any notes on how the light relay is connected but there are four total wires that connect to it (green/black high beam; grey/black low beam; green flasher; black ground) whether you are running a Carello or Bosch (or other brand) relay.

Hope this makes sense! If you have this stock wiring in place I would check the turn signal unit for proper operation - the blue and blue/white leads from the signal assy should 'close' when the high beams are switched on). I would also check the terminal block connections behind each headlight assembly, which I ignored in above description (my car was missing these but they reside in the L and R front fender cavities, ahead of their respective front wheel splash shields). If anybody has a photo showing how these blocks are mounted (seems like more often that not they are flopping around for some reason?) it would be great! Regards to all, Nate
