I'm in the process of trying to find my very own pantera. During a recent inspection of a car I noticed some rust under the front lip of the front hood, surface rust on some parts under the dash and inside what appear to be inspection holes on the kick panels near the lower front corners of the door frames. I hope that describes the location well enough. Nothing was showing on the outside of the car. Is this type of rust something I will see often and should not worry too much about or is it a sign of bad things to come?

As an owner of a rusty ( now restored ) pantera, I can tell you that some areas are harder to fix then others. The big areas of rust to watch out for, rear shock towers ( sometimes called inner wheel gusset ), rocker panels inside and out, firewall behind the gas tank, lower front valance, and door latch area on the body of the car. All these areas can be repaired its just a matter of money. You have to weigh the cost of the repair versus the amount of money you will pay for the car because of its condition.

I don't have expierence with the front lip of the car rusting.
