This week I decided that I wanted to have a shift boot on the Pantera. I fabbed up a new metal bracket to replace the gate and give the boot something to attach to. My girl planned, cut and stitched the nice vinyl.

We prototyped one a couple days ago to make sure everything was right. Then this morning I had the idea for using blue thread for some contrast stitching. I'm thrilled with the look and love the way it shifts.

Now the only problem is that the rest of the original vinyl looks old, tired and dirty in comparison... I guess we have more work ahead of us!

Yawp, I hear ya. I love the look of the gated shifter, but find that it doesn't function as well as it looks. Mine rattled, scraped and generally made shifting somewhat clunky. The fingerless shift gates (only one finger seperating reverse) make shifting feel "normal". The only problem with them is that they don't look nearly as cool... thus our shift boot was born. Smiler

Wow! Beautiful job! Let me know if you decide to make replacement dash covers... your workmanship sure lives up to my standards!

Thanks!!!

We're certainly having a lot of fun doing most of our own work on the Pantera, and we're learning a ton in the process. We'll be doing a lot more interior work in the near future and we'll keep you all updated. Smiler
