I bought my 71' about 2 months ago, and I'm in the process of doing various things to it. I'm replacing my corroded, and leaky heater control valve with Hall's aftermarket type. I've already put shutoff valves on the hoses coming in and out of the heater core. Anyways, my question is, the stock one has a 90 degree bend in it.. Hall's is straight. Has anyone installed this type? I guess you have to piece various hoses together to get it to work. It came with no instructions.I called them and the gentleman on the phone said he didn't know how either but they install them all the time and they sell alot of them. He said anyone that could help me was busy. I'm sure I can figure it out eventually, but I'd rather see how someone else did it. Any help would be appreciated.

In my experience 75% of the stuff I have received from Hall required reengineering to make it fit.
The shut off valves are ment to be installed on the heater hoses, in the engine compartment at the firewall. I can just reach in from the back(without opening the deck lid)and turn them on and off. This also protects the lines in the central tunnle as well as the rubber hoses under the dash, and the heater core itself. Marlin.
If you are talking about the shutoff valves, they should be installed in the engine compartment like Marlin Jack advises. I bought mine at Advance Auto Parts. I feel like the people at Hall seem to be doing me a big favor by selling me something. I haven't asked for any favors from them for quite some time.

It appeears that topcat is talking about the heater valve under the dash since he says that he already has the shutoff valves on each side of the heater core (hopefully on the engine side of the firewall)Anyone with experience with that valve?

Yes you're correct. I already installed the shutoff valves on the engine bay side. Basically Hall said,if I can't figure it out then just send it back and they'll refund my money. I was almost speechless, because the first time I called about a month ago, and the lady I spoke to was very helpful. I don't want to send it back, I want to put it on. Right now I'm trying to get this Holley Avenger to run right, so I'm kind of busy with that for now.
