Even in the tail pipe portion of the exhaust the heat will eventually cause regular paint to flake off. However, if regular old black is the color your after, I have found and tried that a rattle can of Barbeque paint available at your local hardware store works great! It's good for temp's up to 800 degree's, chemical resistant, and has rust inhibitors built in. For less than $10 a can, you can paint a helluva lot of tail pipes!

Brad,

Jet hot coating in envirnmentally friendly California (KAH-LEE-FOR-NEE-YA) is a no-no. Folks offering jet hot coatings in our state ship your parts to Arizona.

The big gun for jet hot coating & powder coatings in our wonderful state is Andrews Powder Coating in Chatsworth (San Fernando Valley), telephone (818) 700-1030. Their web site is:

http://www.powdercoater.com

They do coatings for custom cars 24/7, give 'em a call, tell 'em what you want to do, they'll educate you. I know from experience you'll be advised to only Jet Hot Coat a part if the temperature of the part warrants it (exhaust system parts), otherwise you'll be advised to use powder coating.
