Does anyone know if or where you can buy a set of 4 new Koni red coil over shocks and springs for a 74 ? Ian 6836

I'm afraid you are very late to that party, Mike. Red adjustable-damping Koni shocks have been obsolete since about 1985 and are no longer listed8=. p/ns were 82-1601 (frt) and 82-1701 (rear), stamped into the lower body. '82' indicates year of mfg. Used ones are fully rebuildable/recondition-able from the Dutch manufacturer's U.S facility in Florence, KY. Go to Koni-America.com for a current phone # to talk to a rep. E-Bay or the Forums are the usual source to buy these. They tend to run about $125/corner and WILL need work.
Ahh red konis. My first new car, ‘86 mustang svo had the adjustable red konis from the factory. I never took the adjustment knob out of the glovebox!
I thought that was the coolest thing ever besides the 16” wheels which were almost unheard of at that time.

I still have 3 SVOs. They all have the red Konis on them.
The SVOs were under appreciated at the time. You could buy the GT 5.0L for less money - and most people did. I ended up selling it after a few years as the Goodyear Gatorbacks didn't like our Michigan winters!
I have a full set of red Konis . They are in the boxes that the replacement ( also Koni) shocks came in . They seem to be in good shape but could at least use a new set of bushings.
Let me know if you're interested and I'll get you some pics.

The red Konis are really good street shocks with compression damping adjustment, even if adjusting them is cumbersome. Its also possible to corner-balance your Pantera with those non-adjustable spring seat shocks by adding various thickness of top shims. You need a set of four corner scales to check the effect of your work. Shimming one shock affects all 4 corner weights to some degree so its an iterative job. Take notes.
I did this on our '72 before I sold the old red shocks & bought a set of new yellow gas-pressurized Konis with adjustable spring seats. An Illustrated article is in the POCA Archives. Takes awhile to improve things with the red ones but you only need time, and a supply of scrap 3/16" or 1/4" aluminum and a drill press to make circular spacers. Or a lathe if you want to make things look neater. The effect on handling was very similar but the new shocks were quicker to adjust..
