I have not seen this before. The alternator bracket on my current Pantera project came with a modified alternator bracket. Someone sawed off one of the legs for the long bolt that pivots and secures the alternator. Is this something people were doing at some point in time?

Not to my knowledge; first time I have seen that done. However, the bracket would be superfluous if your were using the flat fire wall kit that moves the alternator outboard of the AC compressor. I suspect that is the explanation.
that's for the reduced bulkhead kit from Kirk Evens.
you buy the kit that uses a sandeen compressor with an alternator pivot to the left
i cut the vertical tab to get to the back right bolt..Kirk wanted the front tab cut and welded to the bracket somehwere incase anyone in the future wanted to bring it back to original.

Thanks Dan. That's a good explanation. It's still a little confusing on my car because it has the factory bulkhead cover. My hunch is they were going to do the bulkhead reduction since this car was at Kirk's shop before I got it. The sawed off leg is MIA. I will check with Kirk as he probably has a pile of them.
Also, thanks John. You were on the right track.
Awesome! Thanks Dan. PM sent
