I have not seen this before.  The alternator bracket on my current Pantera project came with a modified alternator bracket.  Someone sawed off one of the legs for the long bolt that pivots and secures the alternator.  Is this something people were doing at some point in time?

The donated leg is now TIG welded onto the alternator bracket.  I used 7/16" threaded rod to both align the donor leg and set the width of legs to match a stock bracket.  There was a large gap between the bracket and the donor leg because of the cutting and grinding that had been done on both pieces. I used a shim of 1/4" steel plate to fill the gap.  It looks like the restored bracket will work well.  I might do some grinding on the 1/4" shim when I test fit the alternator.  Thanks Dan!
