As I find all experts here, I need help to resolve a problem.

While all photos of Mangustas I have seen have a Ghia Badge on the front fenders, 8MA-882 didn´t came with it. How am I sure? In order to restore, I removed the paint to bare metal all around. And while many areas around the floor were rusted, the sides were impeccable.

And the ghia badges I have found all have a central stud and 2 screws. Meaning there should have bben 3 holes in the fender in each side !

Now, my car sheet metal had never had those 3 holes. Please see attached photo of one side. These were never perforated, nor repaired. Just virgin metal, never repared there.the other side was identical

I purchased correct Ghia badges, but now I am doubt, Shall I install them ?

I fully agree with you. To me this is Giugiaro´s masterpiece.

Now, on the other hand, this also makes 8MA-882 a bit different (as most Mangustas are, for sure), so I will probably just document the fact, cut the studs an screws on the badge, and glue them to the fender, so I leave the metal untouched, without perforations.

Here a progress photo of two weeks ago. Car is supposed to attend an important show on the 25th, lets see !

Thank you for the help !

You can glue them on with silicone jell or thin foam tape. They then can be removed by cutting the glue or tape with dental floss, fishing line or thin wire to get them off by dragging it back and forth behind the emblem.

Being an odd shape the emblems will be very hard to put on straight, that is why they had the three holes in the fender. I would make one out of thin cardboard to create a location that keys off of the door cut. Put that on lightly with a little foam tape to check the alignment, adjust it if necessary, then put the real one on.

My car also did not have the GHIA emblems. Giugiaro was free-lancing there at the time while he was in process of starting is own business. I was told that he designed the Mangusta at home on his kitchen table.

Gonzalo,

I agree with Mark, the colour suits the car well. I dont think you will get your car finished for the 25th! Dont rush it.. I would love to see some more pictures.

As for the badges I would drill the holes if it was me because you will be able to get the badge closer to the paint. If you do, make sure you put a little silicone or similar on the back of the badge to seal the holes and prevent rust.
