Mangusta wheel 'types'

The Mangusta came with either Magnesium or aluminum wheels and I have not been able to determine what was the deciding factor. Your thoughts that the earlier ones were magnesium might be correct. Your are right that the mags are much lighter and they do require special treatment. The aluminum wheels can be dealt with as any other aluminum wheel can.

There have been several posts regarding the refinishing of wheels (Pantera factory wheels are all magnesium) and Peter H seems to have done a lot of research into this area.

Okay, i've been enlightened, thank u Jack! All I need to discover is if anyone can furnish the 'cross reference' powder coat 'color or code' for 'argent' silver? I am staying conservative.

Thanks mark for that great information. I just need that color code now. I would love opinions on color as well. I will b mounting up the Dunlop vintage racing tires, same ones that were on the recent bobileff restored, sheehan sold black beauty. I can't stop thinking about gold, it would 'pop'

The alloy wheels have appeared on some what I call mid production cars. I have one aluminum rim that I picked up belongs to car #1084, the other being one that is seen at Fabulous Fords Forever just about every year for a long time!!!

I had my rims powdercoated, a BMW silver metallic, ala their rims. The metallic is very fine and gives the rim a tad more pizaz than does the standard bland Argent. Even the Argent in the Ford Mustang wheels may have had a slight metallic to them!

Good process but you need to have a GOOD relation ship with your powder guy to trust them to cool them down verrrrrry sloooooowly.

What sizes did you get? 650M-15? The Dunlop catalog is a bit confusing.

Aluminum rimmed car. (Haven't found the serial number yet....)

What sizes did you get? 650M-15? The Dunlop catalog is a bit confusing.

..let's see, I got three different sizes, they are from the vintage racing series of Dunlop tires,

600/1200 series for the two rears
525/1050 series for the fronts
475/1000 for the spare

and I have one aluminum front (it will be the unfortunately HEAVY spare, there is already too much weight back there!), and it will ride on the four magnesium wheels at the corners.

okay before anyone rushes out and acquires those tires, I am already changing them! SO DON"T. I really want to fill up the wheel wells in the rear (the correct Mangusta 'look' for sure), so I am going to switch out something else with a higher profile, perhaps not as wide...from the 'M' series I believe..and the spare, I will have to probably reconsider as size is critical. Who knows the maximum 'allowable' size tire that will still fit under those engine hatches? Thanks

would welcome opinions...I really like this color called 'corvel silver' for the powdercoat

It has a sort of 'gray' look to it vs. bright silver, and does have metallic in it. My car has a slight wine/maroon off red color? Not bright RED.
