First step was to seal the hole. I bought some ABS sheets from TAP and cut them to match the speaker hole and epoxied them into place:

I then took some 3/32" ABS and cut it to the shape of the door:

I melted these "elevator bolts" into the ABS:
I then glued a thin sheet of 3/16" foam to the plate then glued the vinyl to the foam.
My local upholstery shop had some vinyl that is an exact match.
It turned out pretty good, I think.

A shame anyone would cut up the door panels in the first place. I removed the speakers which were shot anyway. Didn't want to spring for new panels so just made up a cover plate. I tell people its to prevent damage to the panel when trying to get out.

Impressive, I have a GT5S and want to do the same thing. Pattern is a bit different but might be able to do this. Thanks for the idea.
