Hello all,
Just a quick post to introduce myself to the board.
I got the '72 that was on e-bay with the 427 side oiler. Big Grin
Stil kinda in shock, been wanting one since I saw my first one in highschool a few years ago........ o.k.,24 years ago. Roll Eyes
Here is the thread in the for sale section.
Going to head over late next week to pick the car up from Don(sideoiler), working on setting up a meeting with the previous owner who had most of the work done to the car, I'll post what I find out.
Here is a link to my other vehicles, I put up pictures of the Pantera from the auction 'till I get a few of my own.
Well, thanks for reading.
Jeff

Congrats, and welcome to the party pal!
I'm very envious. That car may be one of the all time sleepers.
I'm wondering if it is driven or just ridden like a rocket sled?
Quella is one of the few premier Pantera builders anywhere.
I realize that you haven't picked it up yet but I'm wondering if the gearing is stock or modified because of the "7".
Any way, best of luck with it.
I just checked out the Pocono event online, that would be a blast, but I doubt I'll make any events this year. My job keeps me traveling most of the time, unfortuanetly without my own vehicles. I think I'll just spend some "quality" time with the Pantera this year and try and plan for some events next summer.
As for plans for the "rest" of the cars, lol, as time permits I either drive them or "tinker".
'68 Torino I bought for my dad, it should be on the road with new paint within 3 months.
Then I can move on to my '73 'Cuda, planning a stroked 340 to replace the matching numbers motor, plus upgrades to the suspension.
My '99 VR4 is 1 of 287 built the last year of production, 43K original miles and it is just for sunny day driving. It's fairly quick with the twin turbos, but I have a feeling the Pantera is going to embarass it once I get it home. lol
Just got done with a 390 transplant into my '64 Galaxie XL, needs some paint and it will just be a cruizer.
'68 AMX 390 4 speed might be going to a new home, loved the 2 seat AMX, but I really don't have the time it deserves to get it back to the way it should be. Runs and drives great, just sat in storage with the original owner for way too long and needs a complete retoration.
'64 Galaxie wagon, have a 460 to go in it, but no time to do it justice, hopefully it will be going to a good home soon.
1 fourdoor Bronco waiting for it's "turn" for paint. The other 4 door is my tow rig and is almost done with it's new interior, just need to dress out the rear cargo area.
'79 4 speed Bronco just sits, it will get some love one of these days. lol
I think I'm done shopping for cars(I hope), the Pantera and the 'Cuda were the two cars I wanted, the others are just ones I like. lol (does that make any sense?)
Anyway, enough rambling, two more days and I'm off to get the "baby" of the family. Hope she plays well with others?
Jeff
Yep... saw your new baby on ebay since I always keep an eye out for other Panters for sale. Glad it went to a real person who has been pining away for one for years! When you pick up you should enjoy that cool weather up North for a classic ride from Oregon to Idaho..
Congrats on your COOL NEW CAT Cool... she should get slong with the other kids just fine in your garage.

John
Jeff, Enjoy your new ride! I notice several Mopar/Pantera people who either hang out or own both. Oddly enough, one of my "Car buddies" is a HUGE mopar fan, owning a 70 Cuda 440/6, 70 AAR, 73 Cuda, 69 Hemi Roadrunner, and beleive it or not, an AMX! If you run into any serious isssues (lets hope not) while in the Portland area, send out an S.O.S. and I'll try an help you out.

Ron
Thanks for the offer Ron,
Hopefully I won't need it, but nice to know.
Depending on what I hear back from the previous owner, I might stay another night so I can meet up with him face to face just to talk to him about the car.
If that happens I'll be heading up 5 to catch I-84 to go home.
If you aren't tied up it would be cool to meet up.
P.M. me with a way to contact you if you want.
I'm off to get my new baby!
Thanks
Jeff
Picked it up and am on my way home.
It is just amazing.
Got stuck at a gas station for 20 min., kept drawing a crowd. Big Grin
Gotta be the first time I haven't had to answer questions about my 4 door Bronco.
Didn't make it too far, wound up pulling out late, Don has too many cool cars to drool over. Shelby GT500 428 4speed looked kinda nice.
Anyway, just been sitting here in the motel room going through all the documents that came with the car. It was re-geared, just haven't found what the ratio is yet.
Well,
It only took an extra day, but I finaly made it home.
No problems, was just taking my time enjoying the trip.
Every stop I made drew a crowd...... is this normal? Roll Eyes
I even had and OR. State Trooper cross the westbound freeway, come up and pace my trailer and then pull up to give me a thumbs-up and pull away. Big Grin
Still going through paperwork and finding more great info about the car. The previous owner had the car completly dissasembled dipped to strip all paint and dipped for corrosion protection. It is just amazing all of the records he kept. Found negatives of what look to be of the motor buildup. Lots of brochures of different components he must have been considering.
There is a PI catalog dated 1975, the prices would make you drool. Wink
I took a quick clip of it idleing on the trailer, as well as one with a couple quick throttle blips. Not the best quality from my digi camera, but kinda cool.
427 @ Idle
It deff. doesn't rev. like a smallblock, but the solid lifter 427 has a sound all it's own.
Second one is still uploading, I've got a slow connection here at the house so just check back if it doesn't show up yet.
I'm pretty jazzed, and I haven't even gotten to drive it yet!
Thanks for reading.
Jeff
You can't run a car in the house. Not only are there problems with the fumes you will rattle the glass and the more fragile ones, like the vase that Grandma's ashes are in will shatter.
If you run this with nice 15 inch woffers, it's like having the car in the house, maybe worse?
Wanna know how I know? Don't ask.

That puppy's got a "cam". You need Webers.
You may as well get used to the attention. I was passing traffic in the left lane... aproching a slower car that was in the right lane.............I look over and a pickup is about to run in the back of the car in the right lane....whats he doing? Taking a picture. I knew I was in the right car!
I don't like how they gang up on you on both sides in your blind spots.
I use it for justification for going faster.
I actually had a "situation" where a motorcycle ran up the back of another car because he was watching me.
They also think that they are racing you all of the time too.
I'd wish they'd let me know first.
You want racing? It ain't racing until my exhausts are glowing. Still want to play?
I drive the crap out of my car ,....like 80 mph everywhere. So far after 2 years, never been stopped. I have a story ready for the Hy patrol. Cars that are equipped should be able to go faster. And My favorite." I have to be up in front of the pack because I need the clean air on my radiator" I'll run anybody up the mountian...but coming down any idiot in a minivan can go 120. Seems like the other drivers are mad at us?
LPB, this is NY. The cops work like they get commission on your ticket here.
The best thing to tell a cop here is that you just got a phone call and you are nervous because you are rushing to the hospital.
Now if he/she asks which one, pick the one that is the closest. They may offer to give you an escort to it.
If they say, gee that's too bad, you are just going to get a ticket.
Cops aren't necessaraly know for having a heart unless a kid is involved.
This also presumes that you were even asked why you were going so fast. Sometimes they just say license and registration and walk back to thier car.
When they return the ticket is already made up.
I like to get thier badge number and the spelling of thier name correct.
If they ask why, then it is for when the PBA calls for the annual donation. When I tell them not this year and they ask why, I say ask officer so and so, he'll know.
Good lord, what a BEAST!
It runs suprizingly well at low speeds even with the dual 4's. It does not like to be trapped in stop and go traffic for very long before the temps. start to climb, don't think there is much to do about that, it just wasn't built with that purpose in mind.
I've only had it sideways twice so far..... Roll Eyes both times it came back in line once treated with the proper respect it deserves.
I've got a leak at the collector gasket that needs fixed, and I need to adjust the clutch to fix the issue with shifting into reverse, other than that this thing is freaking awsum!
Gonna be tough pulling her into storage when I go back to work.
My buddy has a decent vid. camera and a highspeed connection, gonna trade him a ride in the car for some video of the car. Big Grin
Hope to get that done this weekend.
Well, time to go drive some more. Smiler
