New pics of clear tail light lenses

A lot of people have asked for pictures of the clear lenses installed on a car. The weather has been poor, so it has taken a while. Today was overcast. A little gray out, but at least it wasn't cold and raining. Took some pics of the clear lenses and LED's on our Pantera. I thought they'd only look good on neutral colored cars but I was wrong. I really like them on our car. Has a clean, crisp look to it, and when the lights are on, it looks high tech. Very neat.

The pics aren't the best in the world. I really wish I knew a good car photographer. But they'll still give you a good idea of what they look like on a car. Enjoy!

These are the reproduction lenses made by PV in Italy.

They mold the lenses in clear plastic, and then they add the normal amber and red color with a spray-on tint, applied on the inside.

The OEM Carello (and Altissimo) lenses actually had a thin veneer of colored plastic giving the amber and red tones.

So yes, the clear lenses could be tinted by you just as PV does in their production runs.

You only need to change your flasher if you have LED's in both the front and rear lights. If you're still running bulbs up front, your factory flasher still works great. If you go with LED's all the way around, you'll need an electronic flasher. You can get one from us, or from Jon at Pantera Electronics for about $17. It's a direct replacement. Plugs straight in, and has an electronic speaker so you can still hear the flashers going.

Good point George. Thanks for asking. Yes, we offer the clear lenses for sale, (as well as the LED's and even the tail light gaskets). We special ordered five sets of the clear lenses. I have three sets left.

Boy, I think that's a good idea. The LED's are so bright that a light tint should be o.k. and it would really help the lenses not look overly white.

BTW, how is the shirt business doin? Good I hope. I'm patiently waiting for a new design to come out so I can add to my collection. Smiler

I definitely want to tint my lenses whether I paint my car black or orange. I was afraid my bulb lights would be too dim, so I was considering going LED. The clear lenses seemed like they would tint well, although they have a lot of angles, it might be better to tint a smooth lens?

T-shirt biz has slowed since the economy tanked. My design business is slow as well. Sucks. Working on getting new designs printed, but need to sell more current product since my design business can't fund growing the clothing business until people stop slashing their marketing budgets. :-(

All the faceting is on the inside of the lenses. These repro lenses get their red/amber coloring with a spray-on tinting process. I can see no reason why any tinting you desire would not work just fine on the inside.

However, WHY you would want to tint the lenses is the question. Wink

I surely know one of the joys of our cars is being able to stray from the 'mold', unlike most other exotics. But to me tinted tail lights lenses sort of scream RICER-BOY style.

Just my 2¢...
