I finished my carb and intake upgrade and the motor is running SWEET! I went to back her up to put the passenger side seat in and I have no clutch. I have pressure at the pedal but I can not seem to get the clutch to dis-engage, therefore I can't get it in to reverse or any forward gear. Prior to taking the the motor apart for the upgrade, I did a quick power washing of the engine bay and the ZF and bell housing. Realizing afterwards that I do not have any cover over the bell housing inspection hole. So my question is, am I looking at possibly the slave going bad while it was sitting there, or could the throwout bearing be hung up bacause it might have gotten soaked from the power washing? I'm going to have some help this afternoon, so I'll be able to have someone push on the clutch while I watch the slave. Any other ideas or assistance will be greatly appreciated.

George,

What may have happened is that clutch disk bonded ("rusted") itself to the flywheel or pressure plate from the moisture of the pressure washing. This is an easy fix, but first verify that the slave push rod is moving the ZF clutch arm. If that's ok, then raise the rear wheels off the ground. Put the shifter in first gear and start the engine. Next, depress the clutch pedal fully and hold. With the engine running and the clutch pedal fully depressed, quickly apply the brakes. This should free the clutch disk. If not, repeat.

THANK YOU! That was the ticket! All I had to do was tap the brake once after my step-son help me verify that the slave was good so I took your advice, jacked her up and while in gear, one tap of the brakes and I was good to go. I'm so glad that LaryW told me about this for due to all the help all of you have given. I had nightmares of pulling the ZF and replacing the clutch.

Thanks again!

George
