Hi folks, I've been working to get new hydraulic lines on 1010 but reached an impass regarding the OEM clutch slave hose connections. Anybody know what the correct parts are here? For some reason 1010s previous owner had replaced all factory parts with a braided slave supply hose which needed stacks of adaptors at both ends. I pitched the whole mess long back and never figured out how to do it the right way.

I'm fairly sure that the inlet to a stock slave cyl is 12x1.25mm. If that's how the stock hose is threaded, it must have screwed directly into the end of the slave, possibly with a copper seal ring(?). In not, what kind of fitting or adaptor is used there?

Same question for the other end of the hose - what are the threads and how is the connection to the copper hard line accomplished?

Anybody have photos of these details? Specs on the OEM hose would be fantastic as well, especially length and end fittings.

Thanks for any help, it would be REAL nice to hammer out this detail and move on to the something else, hopefully not in the hydraulics deptSmiler Regards, Nate s

I can check for you this weekend. If I remember correctly, the slave used a 12mm x 1.0 Banjo bolt on one end of the hose, and a British bubble flare on the other end.

It is easiest to just convert to American flares on the end of all of the hard lines, using a flare tool. Then the hoses and adapters are easier to find.
Nate,

My slave uses the metric threads and a copper washer at the cylinder end. The other end at the frame, appears to use a standard flare fitting, although I do not know if it is metric or not.... seems the builders used lots of "non-metric" fittings on the hydraulics....

Dana had some braided clutch lines made up. You may want to ping him. I may have one of his somewhere, but forgot to put it in when I was just re-doing my slave/master cylinders last week...duh!

Ciao!

Hi Jay/Steve, appreciate your ideas, went with a 'hybrid' version seen below.
Dana does sell a braided version of this part which IS llustrated in his website (just
need to dig a bit, I'd never found it before). Not wanting the braided look,
however, I opted for a custom hose - SAE double flare type female at the one end, and
the OEM type 12x1.25 metric male at the other. Overall length is 14" (good fit on
my car). Fwiw it appears the original hose was about 16".
On assembly I found that the hose rubs the bell housing structure immediately above the
slave cylinder (!). This may not a real problem, and might be unique to my current repro slave
unit - mount holes slightly askew, etc. Whatever the case, it can ONLY shorten hose life,
so I'll tweak the slave mount holes enough to provide clearance. If it's a common
problem that does impact hose life, I'd have to admit the OEM hose arrangment on the Goose
could have been done somewhat 'more better' than it was!

Nate,

I seem to remember that my hose (that probably is nowhere near original.....or could be totally original....!) goes up and over the ladder bar if I am not mistaken....but I could be mistaken.....but it looks a lot like yours!

I posted a pic in my "oops" post, towards the beginning of the dissassembly..... You'd think that I'd remember installing the slave cylinder (twice!) just a couple of months back....

Fifth picture in shows my hose going up and over.....the ladder bar.

Lemmeno if there is anything you need!

Steve
