Well I'm starting to think about how #7024 is going to go back together and today's task is to work out an optimal mounting and plumbing for the Accusump, oil cooler and oil filter.

I'm thinking to mount the Accusumnp on the firewall to the far right, with the laminova style oil cooler just below on the chassis frame rail so I can tee out of the cooled oil return for the Accusump. The question on my mind is regarding the oil filter, I was thinking of going to a dual remote filter setup and the natural place to have that would be on the left hand side I guess, but this will create longer oil line runs and necessitate cross over to the right side somehow.

Anyone have a set up close to that I'm planning? Where have any of you mounted the remote filter? What are the advantages of remote filter vs. a sandwich plate and retaining the oem filter location?

Thanks,

Before I started restoration the cooler in my car was in a stagnant spot in front of the right wheel well. The stagnant air as I have seen on many other cars did nothing.

I did not want a water - oil cooler for many reasons. I felt a dedicated oil coole with proper fan and ventelation would work as they have on many cars. First I put the gas tank on the right side because I loath long oil lines running under the car.

The duct I made is not far enough out to scook the air but the oil cooler is has a substantial fan. I built ductwork to ensure good air flow.

I suspect most would not want to go to this extreeme but it may be worth looking at for other ideas:
