I just looked at a 1981 Pantera in Ft. Lauderdale, fla, and I noticed an oil leak under the engine. My question is- Can this be a serious matter or can it be rectified without future problems?? The car is pretty stock except for the ground effects on it. what can I do to verify what this problem is??
also if any one has info onthe car I would appreciate so feedback the motor # is 7220 .
Thanks,

An undefined oil leak can be:
front main bearing seal (fairly easy to fix w/engine in car)
rocker cover(s) leaking thru gaskets & running down the block -easy to fix w/engine in car
bad oil pan gasket, loose drainplug or loose pan bolt(s)- easy to fix w/engine in car
rear main bearing seal (pull motor to fix)
transaxle front seal (pull trans to fix). None of these parts are expensive, but the labor to install some could be substantial!
To ID a Pantera, the motor number means nothing. We need the serial number visible under the windshield on the drivers side. It should be something like, "THPNV09175". If by chance you DID mean "serial number", s/n7220 is for an unlisted 1974 Pantera. Need more info on leak location & s/n....
