Paint stripping from trim

Try aircraft stripper, keep it off your hands, and wash off with water.

One thing to consider, the trim may have been scuffed pretty well in order to prep it for paint. I would remove one piece, remove the paint and see how much work is involved in polishing it back. There is/was a company in California I believe called Ano-Brite that specializes in the restoration of automobile trim. They did an absolutely fantastic job on my Cougar convertible several years ago (they weren't cheap). They primarily specialize in reanodizing aluminum, but you could ask them about restoring stainless. their phone # is 818-982-0997

Laquer thinner is much less toxic than the aircraft stripper. I soaked my black painted bits in the juice for ten minutes then wiped with a rag. No problem.

What you find under the paint, you might not like though. The chrome surface maybe sratched up.
